G'Day Andrew McAuley has set off agin to try and cross the Tasman. My mates in Tassie report that he left Fortescue Bay at 3:30pm yesterday to paddle to NZ. Theres a good weather forecast for the next week with a slight offshore breeze forecast. His website http://www.andrewmcauley.com/index.html has the latest report. Other relevant websites are http://tinyurl.com/y3kjgp which predicts the weather and sea state across the Tasman for the next week and http://tinyurl.com/ym2ctm which gives the currents and temperatures along the way. A second group, paddling a double with a cabin built onto the stern, will be making an attempt in late January. Their website is http://www.crossingtheditch.com.au/ . This is the toughest crossing imaginable and if Andrew and/or the Knox boys succeed it will be a major one for the records. Here's wishing them all good fortune. All the best, PeterO (And thanks Dave for telling me about tinyurl its a beauty!!!) *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
