Hi all,I'm scheduled to have open carpal tunnel surgery at the end of April. I was under the impression that use of the hand would be restricted for a few days, that I couldn't get it wet for about a week, and that it might be weaker than usual for several weeks, maybe longer. But I didn't think that paddling would be a problem. I was speaking with a friend (a non-paddler - I do have such friends) who had the surgery awhile ago, and she said that, in her case at least, it was worse than that. She said I wouldn't drive for several days, would have restricted use of the hand for a week to three weeks, and that I might not paddle for a couple of months. Now, she is a non-paddler, and I realize that each person's mileage may vary, but I was wondering if anyone on the list has had the surgery and what the result were. Mainly: should I postpone my surgery util the fall, after the paddling season? (I've already done that with neede cataract surgery. Perhaps I should just take extended sick leave in the fall, and fix everything that's wrong with me....If only I could....)Joan *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
