Even my stainless Leatherman rusted, when exposed to some
saltwater and heat - in short I stored it in a damp waterproof bag,
and the sun rays heated it slightly!

I think the quality we should use is called acidproof, bu that is not
always available. And true for all metals, if they are bolted together with
other metals in a marine environment a lot of interesting effects can
occur!

If you bolt aluminium together with stainless screws, the aluminium
dissolves eventually (or is the other way round?), just as zink anodes on a
stell hull eventually dissilves into nothing!
