A change in the usual swell direction led to a great day on the water for me today. You can read about it here, or go straight to the video. Still working on my camera angle, but still got a couple interesting shots. http://www.sandmarks.net/strangedays.html www.sandmarks.net *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Mark, Awesome wave punching photo and video! Also, that was quite a ride you got alongside the jetty, as shown in the video. I was surprised you were able to punch that wave, plus still stay upright afterwards. Geoff, My QCC is the only boat I've ever paddled. I had hoped to take a surf class at the San Diego Symposium a couple weeks back, but couldn't fit it in. The people I kayak with don't seem interested in doing much surfing, so I haven't done a whole lot myself. Punching through the waves, to me, seems a safer activity since I'm usually paddling alone. I hope to get more surf action in this year and I think it would be fun to try a surf kayak. I still need to work on getting a roll though.
