[Paddlewise] Short paddle today

Had hoped to head out of Dana Point to do some whale hunting today, they
being
in town, but ran into a problem. I had broken my friend Ken's borrowed boat
the
other day. Having the foot pegs to their longest setting, one of the pegs came
loose
and pushed through the end cap on the side rail. Good thing Ken doesn't know
about
it or I'd be buying a boat for sure. So I go to load the QCC and see the
sliding
adjuster on the foot pegs laying on the bottom of the boat. Don't know how
that happened, it was fine last time I used it. Figured Ken heard I broke his
and snuck into my garage to get even! Since they were the same brand, I took
the good cap off my rail and put it on Ken's boat and took it out to try and
break it again!

Decided not to whale hunt in the short boat, so just made my usual paddle to
try the boat in some textured water. Landed at Toxic Creek Beach on what
little sand is left there. The shore seems to be getting rockier, but it was
a
beautiful day anyway. After some time spent in the churn of BAR, I headed
back
to the harbor. At Pirates Cove, I tried some more rolling practice. Made the
first 2, missed and corrected on my third. Those were all fully extended
paddle rolls, so I tried one choked up to the blade root and popped right up.

Decided to quit while I was invincible.
