I made a trip to Renton yesterday to test-paddle a Mariner II in Kevlar. I'm looking for a Mariner that will fit me and be a fun paddle and since Matt and Cam so thoughtlessly went out of business I'm reduced to begging rides in used boats that are for sale. This boat has to be the most beautiful of its kind. I was almost afraid to get into it and I actually was afraid to do a beach launch in it for fear of scratching something (I made him haul it over to the dock). It's yellow with black trim and weighs (according to Leonard, the owner) about 46 lbs. If I didn't already have an 18-foot boat (and wasn't in the market for something smaller and more nimble) I'd have been all over this kayak. The only downside is that it doesn't have a rudder. <ducks> Seriously, I have Leonard's phone number and I'll pass it along if you email me. Otherwise, check out his add on paddling.net. I'm only putting this out here because I'd like to see the boat go to a Paddlewiser.
