I tried to get something better when I designed a sprint kayak with no rudder but the paddlers just were not enthusiastic. I am not convinced they gave it a fair try. Rather than fight we put a rudder on it. It was never a success as the wetted surface may have been to high. Maybe some of the German or Swedish builders who use tank testing a lot have experimented but I haven't heard them telling the world about their findings. Richard Culpepper may be able to get something as I think he has an in with the CCA. If you have anything, Richard, or can get it let me know.
