I just got back from a great trip exploring sea caves in Mendocino. Conditions were so calm, we could have gone way back into a lot of caves if we had a sufficient flashlight. My LED headlamp just didn't cut it. What do you use for exploring those pitch-black slots in the back of caves? Perhaps look at diver's lights? They eat batteries fast but they are super bright. It is built waterproof to -5 meters and I like the belt pack as a tether just in case the headlamp comes off during a roll. It is a hybrid lamp meaning that it has a halogen bulb as well as a set of LEDs. I have not used it caving but it has held up to the abuse I've given it. The major con is the price but I found it worth the price. - Daniel -- Daniel Blakeley (N2YEN) dhb3_at_cornell.edu *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). I picked a #2010 Sabrelite Recoil LED flashlight from their catalogue along with a Pelican case to keep my camera dry. This flashlight is truly amazing. The recoil technology provides a super bright beam that is incredibly bright. It does so by concentrating a single LED. Battery life is also amazing. It is also totally submersible.
