Hi everyone,

As the (Everglades) camping season approaches, I'm in the market for a good
expedition boat. My wife and I are trying to reduce, reuse, recycle. I now
mow the yard with a push reel mower which works quite well by the way, and
we've swapped out all the bulbs we can for compact flourescents which
actually give us more light than before, just not in the first few seconds.
The point being I would like to re-use someone's underused kayak rather than
pull another one off the assembly line.

I'm looking for something around 17 feet or longer that handles conditions
well and can carry gear and water for multi-day camping trips. It needs to
be sound but doesn't have to be pretty. I don't mind replacing seats or
rudders and the like, but it needs to keep the water on the outside. Of
course it needs to have a good number of years left in it.

Stitch and glue, strippers and production boats are all possibilites. I'm
wanting to keep the weight under 50 lbs, and lighter is better.

If you know anyone who's got more boats than they really need, and they are
within a reasonable distance of southwest Florida let them know I'm in the
market for a boat that will take me camping.

Oh, and if you'd like to come along camping in the 1000 islands sometime
(doesn't every geographic region have a 1000 islands? ours is the western
end of the Everglades,) let me know when you'll be in the area and maybe
we'll be able to get a trip together.

Cheers,

Carey
