I had a great Symposium although I barely symposed at all. And even the
little symposing I did was unofficial. Lots of interesting people not the
least of whom was Matt Broze. We had ourselves a little "Mariner Corner"
(including an "almost Mariner") of the parking lot.

High points included the "gray zone" classes which were so (unexpectedly)
popular that they could have filled up many more sessions than the few that
were available. Such an inspiring class that I almost felt like trying it
myself in the 45 deg F water but was fortunately pulled back out of danger
by another spectator. I'll give it a try in the still-over-70F waters of
Moses Lake, WA.

Dubside was there to demonstrate his "invisible paddle" roll, his prowess on
the Greenland ropes (in a culturally-correct frame made from genuine "drift
metal"), and his sense of balance on the slack-web. Not to mention his sense
of humor. Expect photos of him and his new, jet-black, kayak with his
likeness on the foredeck to appear in virtually every paddling magazine  in
North America.

Matt and I are entered in the battle of the 60-somethings race. I'm entering
training as soon as I rest up from watching Pam learn to roll.
