Hi Dave,

I asked this question of a work fellow who is a former meteorologist, hoping
for a more scientific answer than I would have come up with.

His reply: "Changeable".

I'm pleased that I didn't waste time getting a university education in
weather-speak!

As Grant has already replied, Spring is changeable, and as a country fully
exposed to maritime weather in the Roaring Forties, we get a little of
everything. While a very small country, the north to south aspect gives us a
good variation. Northern climes can be sub-tropical as the south is getting
gales from Antarctica.

Because it is the capital, Wellington is ALWAYS wet and windy! It's natures'
way of balancing out the hot air produced in parliament.

More to the point Dave, are you making your way down to Christchurch?

There is plenty of paddling to be done down here.

Cheers

JKA
