9/23 9am I've been abandoned by my kayak friends for the weekend and so am left to my own devices. Friday night we had a rare storm roll in with quite a bit of rain and this morning there was still some thunder roaring by. By the afternoon the clouds were pretty scattered, so I hit the water around three. I love paddling after a storm with the air so clear and the clouds lining the sky. The water was lumpier than it's been in a long while, although not huge, but I still took my time getting used to the swells outside the jetty. I was toasty in my wetsuit and spent an hour next to BAR in the company of three leapers. The sea seemed to calm down on my paddle home. In the jetty, the sun was getting low, but I convinced myself to try some rolls. I had my GP and my high braces were popping right up, so things looked good. I pulled off several rolls and a lot of deep high braces, but finally ended up in the soup. The water seemed warm and it was just to pretty a day to care. I did a reentry roll and paddled home with my pump doing its thing. At my secret beach, two young kids came up to ask all about my strange craft. I let them hold my GP, figured what harm could that do. The little boy decided to play helicopter with it and almost took off his sister's head! Boys will be boys.
