Just saw an ad in Seakayaker for a new spray skirt by Seal called the Mariner with "the Pumphouse, bilge pump portal through deck". Basically it is a device which allows one to put a hand pump through the spray skirt while it is completely sealed (no pun intended). Also the edge of the skirt has lash points, not sure for what , the ad doesn't say. Any one tried this skirt out yet? Sounds good on paper but will it actually work in the wild? keep your paddle wet bob *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). You can find info about the skirt on their site at: http://www.sealsskirts.com/prod_tr_mariner.html they also sell the pumphouse as a separate unit. The lash points look like they are for their gear pocket. http://www.sealsskirts.com/prod_sa.html At 09:46 PM 28/09/2007, you wrote: >Just saw an ad in Seakayaker for a new spray skirt by Seal called the Mariner >with "the Pumphouse, bilge pump portal through deck". I think Reed Chillcheater beat them too it. Designed, I believe, by Nigel Dennis, it has been around at least for 2.5 years. See: Aqauatherm Spray Deck + Bale Hole + Map Ringshttp://www.chillcheater.com/products/shop.asp?cid=794&p=1&pid=13496 The Chillcheater version is only on their Aqauatherm -- not neoprene -- spray Deck, and uses a dry bag type closer. The Seals version goes on neoprene decks and use a Beckson-type hatch closer.
