Here is a three part, admittedly rambling, 13 minute video of TAKS. It was all just one long shot, but I didn't realize my camera was on, so it just shows some of the usual goings on. Just thought it was a nice slice of life at TAKS. Mine anyway!! I might edit a more cohesive video of my time there later. I tried to just enjoy myself there this year, so didn't focus on getting a lot of on the water shots. I'm sure others will provide them this year. This has a couple shot of me playing in the shore break. Part One: http://vidshadow.com/video_player.asp?videoid=5709 Steve Wilson can try to make out his gnarly surf carnage at the end of this clip. I was a bit far off from the action, but give some play by play on the beach. Part Two: http://vidshadow.com/video_player.asp?videoid=5710 Part Three: http://vidshadow.com/video_player.asp?videoid=5711 This was my write up for my local club: How to Quantify a Good Time I know of no reliable electronic Fun-O-Meter, so I need to think of a way to quantify my fun at TAKS this weekend. There was the beautiful drive up the coast and the excitement of setting up camp, waiting for friends to arrive and meeting new ones while you wait. Cooking dogs and burgers around the campfire and sharing conversation and kayak stories. There was the concert by Steve Wilson and his Didgeri-Duet with Duane and even more with Henk Aling. There was braving the wind and waves for the paddle up the San Simeon coast. There was the sacrificing another pair of glasses for a gnarly ride and providing some carnage in my last-place finish in the kayak race. There was Billy Kroll giving me one of his old paddles to some day become my next broken paddle and the excellent turn out of CKF members to represent our local paddlers, not to mention all the presenters and teachers. And, to live up to my nick-name, Seam Splitter, a new 6" hole in the side of my kayak. Gonna be hard to 'splain that to the kayak company! All well worth the price of admission.
