I got to San Simeon for TAKS on Thursday last week. Each evening when the wind kicked up, we wondered if this was the big expected blow. Each morning we hit the beach expecting giant surf. But the wind and waves gave us a break till Sunday when most of us were headed home. On the first day of paddle, a large group tried for a 12 mi RT to the light house, but most of us turned back early, as conditions changed a bit. We made sure to have fun playing in the surf each day, in case the next day wouldn't allow it Of course we all had to drive home under the clouds of smoke with our boats buffeted on their racks, but I got home quicker than I came. We were lucky. Hopefully, that luck held up for everyone at home! Chocolate Brain--ooops, sometimes that just pops out of me for no reason! Please don't ban me for life!!!
