G'day, Received some excellent news this afternoon. Some of you may remember a brief report I made 18 months ago about my boat getting swamped halfway through a 30km crossing. The problem was a cable gland with a hidden quick release mechanism on the skeg housing. It had sprung an invisible leak. Whether it was the quick release being accidentally pressed during packing or the corrosion fracturing a set of tiny leaf springs I'll never know. I wrote to the manufacturer of the skeg as I wasn't impressed. But I was polite. Never did get a reply but the agent for my boat fitted a standard and very solid gland with no fancy fragile quick release and I'm still afloat today. the good news is that he managed to persuade the skeg manufacturer that the fancy fragile quick release gland idea was daft as a brush and they are now using the robust low tech reliable gland on all their skegs. Customer feedback can work! All the best, PeterO *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
