I have a chance to volunteer at one of the three state parks on Whidbey Island and will have plenty of time to paddle. From my visits there, though, the waterways seem pretty busy. I've spent alot of time in Newfoundland and, of course, you can see no one except a few fishing boats for days at a time. How far would I have to travel to find more tranquil conditions? Thanks, Jordan Engel Bristol, VT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I would look for the recently revised copy of Kayak Routes of the Pacific Northwest Coast, edited by Peter McGee. as Craig said, lots of folks live along the shore here and summers are pretty busy. That said, there are many places you can go, particularly mid week, that still offer solace. You might consider joing the Yahoo group called PSPN, or Puget Sound Paddlers Network. Also, some of the BC Islands, particularly the mid coast north of Vancouver Island are really pretty sweet. You may also take an alaskan ferry that departs weekly from Bellingham, WA and find yourself in Ketchikan in as little as 36 hours. Lots of places to go where you won't see many folks. Mind Boo Boo and his pals as they are numerous. Cheers, Rob G **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products.
