Hi George,

I am afraid I disagree.

I just used a Garmin 76 SCX for my crossing this last Sunday and the color
screen could be easily seen in plain sun light, better than with my old 76.

The battery lasts a long time, the satellite signal is caught inside of the
house, inside of buildings and inside an airplane that the 76 could not.

I think the 76 SCX is a big improvement even with its big memory to store
data and maps.

Best Regards,

Rafael.

I've got the GPS MAP 76-- great instrument, although the battery life could

be better. I believe yours is the same, except in color. The good news is
that the color screen is nice, especially with complex downloaded charts.
The
bad news is that it's harder to see the display in bright light and it has
an
even shorter battery life. However, in bright light, you often don't need a

GPS as much. A great gift!
