G'day Dave,

You're right Dave the wall of water scared my socks off!
Thats a nice reference and particularly because they included the linear combination of waves.

The breather description was intriguing! Imagine that cessation of wave activity just prior to a huge wave generating!

And the three sister groups of waves do seem familiar. Wouldn't clusters of two and three waves at a time be fairly commonplace when surfing? A group of us saw such clusters two years ago at Umina beach lasting for an hour or two as a regular pattern of three waves at a time. So regular that it was wrth remarking and remembering.

All the best and thanks for the reference. PeterO
