Via backchannel, I'd had a heads-up it was a legit deal - but alas, it sold. I did see a good deal at the kayak store today for a new Wilderness Tempest 165 in yellow plastic for just over $900.00 which is a good deal around these parts; I mused over the possibilities, came close (I just spent $30,000.00 on house renos, so am looking at a budget-minded kayak right now), but the uneven hull just made me nauseous - not that a hull would stay pristine very long with me). Instead, I picked up the new DVD, "Pacific Horizons" to wet my appetite, unsatisfied with Mark's Californian appetizers. :-) Hey Mark - these guys are in their twenties, okay, inspiration for us 50 plussers. :-) http://www.pacifichorizonsfilm.blogspot.com/ No affiliation. My yard is already filling up with battered old yaks, abused, forlorn, silently suggesting better days gone by. I still think my next boat might best be a home made one, if only I would spend some time at home and not renovating. :-) A 30 pound black, infusion-resin Ice Kapp might be the coolest thing on the planet, or even a Ross Leidy inspired stripper or an even more practical Point Bennett reproduction, but fulfillment for me will probably only come with something custom made by self that's different from the status qou or consumer-available. In the mean time, I'm adding a shower to the down-stairs laundry room (yes, I renovate until 1:00 am many evenings), revamping the walls with a wire-shelf kayak-gear storage and drying rack system, in preparation for resuming my storm-paddling adventures. I'm hoping my biometrics finger-print dead-bolt will still work with soggy kayaker's hands. Well, I'm weird that way - I like things set up at the house just a certain way and have my kayaks solidly outfitted before I go out and get hammered by the best the west coast can dish out, like this week. Yeah, a good storm boat would be advantageous right now, but the wave supply is endless out here.
