The weather was a perfect 10 for paddling a few Saturdays back, here in southeast Texas and thankfully I was able to maximize the exposure. Dusted off the olde sea kayak and off I went with three other like-minded souls on Armand Bayou. One of our number is brand new to the area and requested gator-sightings, and boy, did we ever deliver! These are more alligator photos than I've ever been able to take, and on top of that we had cooperative roseate spoonbills (birds) and even the black vultures. Temps were in the 70s; blue skies and sunshine, it hardly gets better. The photographic evidence is at: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562657522EEbuIz Photos were taken with an inexpensive ($150) HP camera with 6x optical zoom. Yes, we were close to the gators, but the zoom somewhat exaggerates that, so please don't think our next step would be to pat these big boys on the head. A cold front blew in the next day, dropping temps 30 degrees, yea, even 40 degrees over the warmth of Saturday, but I know the warmth will return.
