I just finished a 50 inch long model of the LM2-14886 taken from
Zimmerly's plans. Better to make the mistakes on the first go around
before I commit to a bigger version.

I originally started just wanting to build the model as a way of
learning about the baidarka. (Also, I can't build anymore "real"
boats until I get rid of 3 that I have sitting in the shop!) Had I
have known the extent of the work involved I would have perhaps used
better wood and finished it a little better. Regardless, it is a
fairly close - though certainly not perfect - representation of the
original I think. I'll make the paddle this week and rephotograph it
with something to show the scale of the model.

It's always a pleasant surprise to see the talent of various Paddlewisers.
The baidarka and the other projects look terrific. The baidarka looks like a
lot of work for 50 inches.

Thanks for posting.

You could make a pair and use them as snow shoes. Seriously nice
display item.
