Doug, etc., check out the Sony line of compact cameras. I still have a
DSC P1 that is 5-6 years old with the marine enclosure from Sony. I
took all of the kayak pictures on my web site (below) with it and
never had a drop of water problems. Worst problem I had with it was
remembering to wipe the ocean drops of the enclosure lens window
before shooting and after a good dunking. They have 3x optical zooms
and up to 5+ megapixels, which is plenty large for even cover shots. I
kept mine in my PFD pocket with a 2 foot lanyard fixed to the PFD in
case I dropped it.

I often paddled with it sitting in my lap tethered by the lanyard so I
could pick it up and shoot quickly. See the two closeups of the sea
otter which I came upon on coming around a corner in Elkhorn Slough. I
snapped quickly thinking she/d disappear quickly, but the otter just
floated there while I glided past and paddled away.

Fair winds and happy bytes, Dave Flory, Flower Mound, TX, U.S.A.
