Kayakers, I saw the Nigel Foster designed, Chinese made Whiskey 16 at the Southwest Kayak Symposium in Southern California this weekend. I didn't get a chance to paddle it, but I took a close look at the hull, which has lots of rocker, a low chine even towards the ends, lots of flotation below the waterline towards the ends (meaning full rather than pinched bow and stern), and slightly arched (almost flat) bottom, all of which I think will make it a great play boat, which is what it is designed for. I think it will surf and carve edge turns well. With so many companies going overboard on seats, it was refreshing to see sort of a minimalist seat tray and padded plastic strap back band on this one.
