I have to agree with Tord on the stove issue. Our group camp stove, a Coleman, can be finicky to light, and once became engulfed in large flames. It did survive, but now I carry two MSR stoves with me as backup, or in case we run out of burners. Another item I have found essential is spare tent poles (yes, plural). My tent poles have split or broken at least five times. I believe firmly they have a built in flaw, since they were never abused or exposed to high winds.
