Mark, Duane, and all, It was my absolute and total pleasure to hang out with the CKF gang on a sunny sand beach surrounded by cute young things both in kayaks and in vintage Porsche S90 Speedsters. Of course, at my age the qualifications to become a CYT are less stringent than when I was 20-something. Basically, any female under about 45. :) The hospitality shown to me by Mark and his wife was amazing; equaled only by the enthusiasm with which their two Bedlington Terriers welcomed me into the family. Mark and Christie (I hope I've chosen the right version of how that name is spelled) have a nice home with a sunroom that has inspired me to look at fixing up something at our lake house that would work like it. Sunday's two paddles in Naples weren't enough and Mark and I ventured to the BAR which was, alas, both high and dry due to the tide (even though we waited until afternoon) and also had the occasional screaming boomer of 5-ft or so tear through. I mooched seaward to search for whales and to keep a lookout for wayward Great White's while Mark tried to decide whether he wanted to brave the inside passage. The day was without wind completely and warm and friendly if you don't count the swells. Today (Tuesday) I stopped at Morro Bay and a couple of other places to see if it was a reasonable day to paddle but a stiff NW'ly breeze was creating havor. I'm sitting right now in a motel in Monterrey about to head to Elkhorn Slough just in time to buck the tidal stream each way. It was a bit too windy to paddle the shoreline today so I'll wait for tomorrow. Mark can join Pam in the club "those of us Craig has stolen something from". I found a paddling helmet in the back seat on the floor at Morrow Bay and I'm too cheap to drive back to Costa Mesa to return it. He and Christy (Kristy?) will just have to come up to WA to pick it up. :) To the CKF'ers many thanks for making me feel like one of the gang. I enjoyed meeting Duane and Ken and many others. Thanks again, Mark and Kristy. (I think I've covered all possible iterations of the way you'd spell her name now.)
