G'Day Paddlewise,

My apologies I sent this earlier with the wrong subject heading!

Has anyone tried the ICOM VHF radio "IC-M33".

I'd be interested in opinions on reliability and ease of use.

All the best, PeterO

Do you really need the floating model? You can get a smaller unit with
similar functions minus the floating body for a lot less I think. I picked
up a Standard Horizon with Tri-Band, including FRS/MURS. I can stay in touch
with base camp for family camping too with this unit and be out on the water
with the waterproof benefit of the unit. It also recieves aircraft, am/fm.
Nice small "form factor" to fit in my new Astral PFD (whitewater rescue vest
model, so smaller pockets). $300.00 Cnd.funds; for $250.00 I could have got
a newer model without the discontinued MURS. I have it tethered. Tjings
float away while paddling, so I'd still tether the flaoting ICOM if I bought
one, so went with the S/Horizon. Previously had a S/Horizon with no leaks,
so have been happy with them.
