Hello PaddleWise-

I'm a grad student going to school in Rhode Island, and my purpose for joining
PaddleWise was to learn a little bit about kayakers. I'm a new face around
here, but I wanted to ask for your help.

Cut to the chase- I'm doing a marketing project on product development, and I
have to do some primary research. My topic is on kayaks and kayak sails, and
I'm interested in finding out what makes a kayaker get into kayak sailing.

Good news! I made a survey. Now, I know the drill. Nobody ever completes a
survey unless some kind of prize is dangled. Unfortunately, I'm a poor grad
student, and I'm not sure anyone would be interested in the prizes I'd be able
to give out. Nevertheless, I would like to offer my analysis, and heck, even
the raw data to everyone on this list. I think that this survey will show some
interesting things about kayakers. Consider it a fun, informal poll.

So- that's my pitch to you. I really, really hope you'll take a couple of
minutes (that's all it'll take) and fill out a survey.

Thanks in advance. Feel free to email me with any questions. -John Conlin

Haven't we seen this before?

"We're trying to learn about how people purchase their kayaks, and why
people might be interested in purchasing sails for their kayaks."

So, John.... why did you choose this topic?

Thanks, Gary for your comments. They're well taken. I'd especially like to
apologize for not following academic protocol. Let me try to correct that
here--

The professor who knows what I'm up to is Dr. Daniel Sheinin, my marketing
professor at the University of Rhode Island. His contact info is here:

My survey did not have all the pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some questions don't apply but require an answer; not a good survey
