We need to get a bit nautical and create monkey's fist knots instead of using toggles. I did this for the painter on one of my kayaks. It feels good in my hand when walking my boat through the shallows. Maybe I will feel inspired today to buy some rope and create a bunch to replace all my toggles. http://www.realknots.com/knots/faqknot.htm Pre made: http://themonkeyfist.com/ I used a coat hanger jig like in this animation: http:// www.animatedknots.com/monkeysfist/index.php Jim et al *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). I got to drag it through lots o' mud too which allowed me to deploy the painter. While feeling the Zen in that sea of mud I decided I would buy some reflective blue water rope on my way home and make a pair of monkey's fist toggles for the Tern 14. After much battling for control of the rope by me and the cat I managed to finish them. I now feel comfortable knowing I wont break a finger in the surf via toggle abuse. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=nged6w&s=3 Me doing battle with the cat.
