One side effect of getting a dry suit last year was something even I could not have predicted. Being as that I build the boats that I paddle, my time is split between the shop and being on the water. I honestly can't say which I like better. B.D. (before dry suit) I would work in the shop all winter, paddling when the weather permitted, and conversely paddle more in the spring and summer months, building when I felt like it. Now however I find that I would rather spend those nice sunny calm weather days in the shop while paddling on the rainy windy days. Flat sunny days are frankly boring. I was out on Lake Washington for a couple of hours today and yesterday. Today's weather: rain and wind. Fantastic. No drunken power boaters. No jet ski a**holes. Plenty of birds though.I saw two eagles successfully pull fish out of the water. Today I saw a pair of Canadian Geese with one new baby they were swimming around. The first I've seen this year. Drifting along in the rain I also sat and watched the swallows at work. While everyone else is moaning about the "bad" spring we're having, I'm truly enjoying it.
