Bill,
As someone who is just learning to play the guitar, I like to stick to songs
that at least have some amusing lyrics to make up for the shoddy playing!
Although I knew he wrote the song, I'm not familiar with Greg Brown yet; I
learned Four Wet Pigs from a Bryan Bowers CD. I will check out more of his
work to see about adding it to my repertoire!
FWPs is a great song, so I hope to do it credit at some future time.
Hopefully with practice, the margaritas can become a welcome option instead
of a necessity! I'll be working on my ukulele as well; it is much more kayak
friendly even with my giant guitar holding hatches.
Check out Bowers if you've never heard him. He does finger picking on an
auto harp and if your a FWP fan, you'll probably like his work.
I'm sure you're paddling partners enjoy your music contributions!

As a rabid fan of singer/songwriter Greg Brown, author of Four Wet Pigs, I
was delighted to read that with or without the necessary margaritas, you
chose
something from this flatland Iowa songwriter to entertain your fellow
paddlers. I have picked up the ukulele for the sole reason that I can fit
it in my
kayak, though I've bought a travel guitar) Martin backpacker that could
possibly be wrangled into a hatch for a short trip. For my river trips on
the San
Juan and Green Rivers in Utah, the Uke (with wine, rather than margaritas)
entertains my fellow paddlers just fine.......
