Steve,

Great fun to read your Carpinteria trip report. I grew up So Cal not far
from Carpinteria (Ventura County), went to college in Santa Barbara, and
loved life near the beach. Spent lots of time in the waters around
Carpinteria! So reading your report brought back lots of memories. I'm
paddling different big water now -- Lake Erie -- as I live in NE Ohio. Was
in Atlanta for 17 years, and spent lots of paddling time in the Gulf.
Nothing like the chilly, challenging Pacific! I miss the beaches, the
Channel Islands, and even the ubiquitous "late night and early morning low
clouds and fog" of the nightly weather reporters...

Thanks for the colorful story!
