The Houston Association of Sea Kayakers did a night paddle on the north
end of Lake Conroe, about 50 miles north of Houston. 19 folks went for
a paddle - totally flatwater and virtually ideal conditions with little
wind and a full moon peaking out from behind the clouds. We met at a
boat ramp (Cagle Recreation Area) and were underway shortly after 7
p.m., returning at midnight. Everyone had glowsticks and flashlights
but thankfully the motor boating crowd left by dark with few exceptions
and a marvelous time was had by all. I've posted a few photos,
particularly as the sunset came on and the light was wonderful; the two
night photos don't quite do justice to the spectacle of 19 boats
floating along with glowsticks glowing. It's been quite a while since
I've been out in ye olde sea kayak, sure glad I was able to make this
trip!

I couldn't quite just stash the kayak the next morning (Sunday, May
18th), so went for a solo cruise on Armand Bayou. That was lovely and
relaxing too - and the gators again putting on a show. Duckweed was
everywhere; wish you could have been here too!
