[Paddlewise] Round the Isle of Man

The Round Isle of Man project and Kayak
For A Cure, a fine group of volunteers, who raise money for cancer
research  have mutually agreed to go our separate ways.

They want to concentrate on their core projects, multi city multi paddler
one day events and I am committed to a multi day, single paddler
event, the circumnavigation of the Isle of man to raise money for
cancer research.

Instead of trying to push a square peg into a round hole, we decided
to step back and in so doing we were able to see it was not a good
fit.

I want to personally thank Mark Starkey of Kayak For A Cure - without
Marks unbridled enthusiasm and his go for it attitude I might never
had moved forward with the Round Isle of Man Project.  I will to
continue to support Kayak For A Cure Victoria.

Round The Isle of Man remains the same, people and companies make a
donation and their name goes on the kayak that I will paddle around
the island.  Your names will be making the journey with me as
supporters and donors to cancer research.

People clicking on the donations web page will however see some
changes.  KFAC's logo and images will soon be gone.  However, the bond
between the Round Isle of Man Independent Fund Raising Event and the
Canadian Cancer Society will grow even stronger.

This will mean updates to the site will happen more frequently.  Thus
the site will more accurately reflect  the success of the project.
The lag between donations and the updates on the site will be
shortened.  Indeed these changes are already starting to occur.

My other good news is that I have cleared $4,500 in donations and pledges.

Weather permitting the circumnavigate the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea
will start August 15th, 2008.
