Nice report Dave, and in what I always think of as "typical" NW weather
conditions (cloudy and cool). The numbers of abandoned towns and canneries
along the tidal estuary of the Columbia always makes me feel nostalgic. My
mother was born and raised in Portland, OR and use to tell me stories of
canoing and rowboating along the many inlets of Sauvies Island. In those
days almost no one had access to a motorboat and I can't help but feel we'd
be better off if we faced much the same circumstances.

Uh... except for our muthah-ships which we use with great caution and care
and only for the briefest possible time necessary to get our kayaks into
position and to reduce our personal impact on the shorelines. :)

The white kayak paddled by your friend Bruce is interesting. What is it?

Thanks for the nice photos, too.
