[Paddlewise] I'm on my way

Well the gear is packed and the car is loaded. I am off to the put in at
Papkes landing.
It is 50 degrees with 6 mph NW wind and raining. Not the beginning I would
have chosen but oh well. See you folks in about three weeks!

P.S. for those who ponder spiritual things the following is an excerpt from
this mornings sermon...

Today I take my sea kayak out amid the wind and waves to experience wonder.
Wonder encountered when whales leap out of the sea and sea otters float with
their young sleeping on their bellies.  The wonder of an eagle gliding upon
invisible winds and ravens calling in mysterious voices from deep within
rain-drenched forests.
Faith is a response to a divine presence.  I find that sacred presence in the
midst of wonder and glorious awe.  Riding upon this sea, I discover a kingdom
of wonder.  Why here in the wilderness? Surly there are many places that God
speaks to the human heart. Lofty cathedrals, and small country churches. In
the lives of saints and sinners. In music and sacred text. Yet out here where
the clamor of the modern world is stilled and the whispers of the wilderness
can truly be heard, I find myself  listening more intently and deeply for the
still small  voice of God. In the midst of lofty mountains, rolling seas and
wondrous creatures of the air and sea I sense that the hand that created all
these glorious wonders also brought me into being.
