Sounds like some WestCoast kayakers paddler their kayaks harder than they drive their pick-up rigs. This all got started when i decided to "spruce up" my Tofino that i've been paddleing for the past fifteenyears or so. The deck looks a lot better than the hull. It has taken a lot of use and abuse. So this has been my first time doing gel-coat repair. Got a lot yet to learn. j in santarosaca --- On Mon, 9/8/08, Craig Jungers <crjungers_at_gmail.com> wrote: From: Craig Jungers <crjungers_at_gmail.com> Subject: Re: [Paddlewise] QQ: tell me again - best protection to prevent heal rub inside kayak To: "Steve Holtzman" <sh_at_actglobal.net> Cc: seajohnkayak_at_yahoo.com, paddlewise_at_paddlewise.net Date: Monday, September 8, 2008, 5:15 PM On Mon, Sep 8, 2008 at 2:52 PM, Steve Holtzman <sh_at_actglobal.net> wrote: > > > But has anybody tried using this material for a keel strip on the bow and > stern to prevent rubbing the gel coat off during launches and landings? > > Someone on West Coast Paddlers tried putting the material that they coat pickup truck beds with and it was ok for a while but didn't last even a year.
