Thirty years ago I participated in the recovery of a 16-foot aluminum fishing boat which had overturned in very heavy swells in that area (just north of Pillar Point). Same scenario; e.g.: fishing trip, no one wearing life jackets, no way to call for help. The 50' power boat just ahead of me recovered the bodies. Pillar Point harbormaster was instrumental in that, too. I bet they participate in lots of rescues. I wonder what they are thinking with no PFDs on as the boat goes up and down 15 feet at a time.
