Hi Peter,

Editing is good...I should try it! We had a mentor back in those
good old days. John Heath made those Greenland rolling tapes.
We were lucky that he was willing to travel from Texas to
Arrowhead, in Delaware, to tell us about Inuit boats, paddles, and
skills. I believe his book on this subject, with Eugene Arima,
Harvey Golden, and others is still available, as are his tapes
(perhaps on CDs by now).

You asked about paddles. At the end of one of our early retreats,
we invited folks to go home and, over the winter, make a paddle
and bring it to the next Retreat. The next year, the conference
room was lined with paddles!

I am sure that other Paddlewisers have memories of those good
times. My little tribute to Cindy Cole appeared in the June 2008
issue of Sea Kayaker. Is there an Australian Sea kayaking
magazine?
