Frank Lucian <murpho_at_comcast.net> asked:>>>>>I remember long ago the mention of renting a folding kayak from a company that would ship it to you (or your destination) for a number of days/weeks, and then you would ship it back after you trip. Anyone know if they are still in business?<<<<< I think you mean Folding Kayak Adventures. For several years Lyle rented kayaks this way and also sold them afterward by applying the cost of the rental to the price. As I remember him telling me, he wasn't satisfied with any of the liability insurance he was able to find and decided to drop the rental business because of that. He continued to sell Feathercraft kayaks though and even after Feathercraft ended most dealer relationships and sold mostly factory direct Lyle was one of the few "Reps" that they kept. At that time Lyle was still calling himself Folding Kayak Adventures so I suppose if you looked that up you could find if he was still in business. I'm pretty sure he is not renting though. I'm not sure I remember Lyle's last name but if I had to guess I'd say Hansen. We sold him his first few folding kayaks. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
