There are 300-500 ice fishermen stuck on an ice flow that has 
broken away from the shore. Coast Guard and others are currently 
attempting mass rescues.

The fishermen built a bridge with planks to get onto the flow.  The flow
then drifted away.  One person died in the water trying to get back.

Here's a CNN video of the scene during the rescue.  The Sheriff is disgusted
by the stupidity of the fishermen:
