Anyone got a big trip planned for this summer? I am headed north of Petersburg toward the Brothers Islands in Fredrick Sound. About 150 mile round trip in a leisurely 12 days. I tried to make it there a couple years ago but the weather did not cooperate. Too windy the day of the big crossing. This trip involves a seven mile open crossing and the winds can really rip through this area. Hopefully this year the weather will grant me safe passage out to the Brothers. Until then I will hopefully get in many good day trips. Any one else got big plans? We are still in the grip of winter here in Alaska. Tempts in the low 20's and fresh snow last night, so instead of paddling I strapped on the snowshoes and tracked the local wolf pack. Found the fresh tracks of 6 to 7 wolves but they were moving faster than I so I did not get a chance to see them. Maybe next week. Life should never be boring. Thinking about a two-week trip along the Pukaskwa coast of Lake Superior from Hattie Cove to the Michipicoten River. Linda and I have done both ends of the route but never the whole bit, and this summer we will both be retired. The Grand Canyon of the Colorado. Should be fun. Get a picture of those wolves.
