of Shoals and recovered by the state Marine Patrol, with help from the 
U.S. Coast Guard.

Wood, 59, of Hopkinton had been missing since Feb. 28 when the 
experienced kayaker made a solo trip to the Isles of Shoals but failed 
to return to his vehicle at Odiorne State Park in Rye.

A Coast Guard crew spoke to him during the afternoon while he was on his 
way to Smuttynose Island after someone reported a kayaker in trouble. 
Wood planned to have lunch on the island before returning to Rye.
