I have friends who have travelled widely, and two who by turning vegetarian while in far off places, like India, have avoided most problems. One of them, when in India, eventually succumbed to a delicious fish dish, which nearly killed him. A week with high fever, and constant puking, alone in a hotel room is never pretty! Here locally, we have a nice salad bar, from which we always return with an upset tummy, no matter what kind of salad we order - in fact the only thing in common is the salad, the rest is very different each time, so it might be the salad, or the person handling the salad (cutting it, et cetera). Many years ago a specialist about diseases talked about Swedes and Swiss (both from very well organised countries, thus there was a lot of facts collected). The odd thing was that salad proved to be dangerous, in short, as many Swedes became ill of Swiss-grown salad, as Swiss people getting ill by eating salad grown in Sweden! This was entirely due to the fact that the bacteria strains are mostly local, so while the Swiss could eat fresh Swiss salad with no ill effects, the same was true for the Swedes, but locally produced salad should always be avoided, if you're abroad! So I guess our salad bar uses imported salad ... Tord -- It's News. It's Reviews. It's Interviews. It's Free.
