     Pain between the shoulder blades may
have nothing to do with your stroke, and
may be due to weak postural muscles that
are supporting your up right torso for a long
paddle. Commonly these are the middle and
lower traps as well as the rhomboids. People
often do a lot of bench presses that will antagonize
the rhomboids and over time weaken them.
Our  culture often emphasizes flexors and
and the lower and middle traps are never used,
giving you a weak and burning pain between the
blades.
