I've been unable to read personal email (time, not technology) for about a week, so have to admit my own ignorance -- is there some website for SPOT that would explain how it's supposed to work? The concept is interesting, even if the practice doesn't meet expectations (for some). Plus, it's something paddling related I know nothing about (yet), so I gotta know more. A Google search dinna help a'tall. I tried re-reading earlier digest modes to see if I could figure it out, but the only messages were discussing a post in a digest I don't seem to have gotten (but I have all the digests in numerical order...) Which leads to another thing: I've mentioned several times (at least directly to moderator(s)) that digest mode does odd things - I'll get four digests in the same day, each with only a few messages, sometimes from several different days. Last night, I got three digests (3454-3456). One had two messages with a 5/7 timestamp, one had messages from 5/3, 5/4 and 5/9 (the latter probably an ahead-of the dateline thing), and the last had a wider range, including stuff I sent last Thursday. Is it a moderation thing or a server-side thing? I know that both the messages I sent went out to those on "send all emails" mode - I got personal replies to them. Why is it not getting to the digest? (no, it wasn't simply someone replying to a digest; the title showed up in the digest heading at the top). Not complaining -- I've been on Paddlewise for years and years, and have learned so much and appreciated the conversations as a most-of-the-time lurker -- just want to understand what happens so I don't respond to something that's already been answered. [moderator response - multiple digests on the same day can be caused by a busy moderator who ends up forwarding email from a day or two previous in one block of updates - like this one... This email was moderated because the digest subject line was still in place , multiple digest on the same day can also be caused by volume on a particular day] Thanks.
