This post is not exactly about kayaking, but it IS about fitness and it's also about a native culture. It is about running, or to be more precise, barefoot running. Here's a little blurb from a radio interview I heard this weekend: One simple question sent journalist and running enthusiast CHRISTOPHER MCDOUGALL across the globe: Why does my foot hurt? In his quest, McDougall ran endurance races across America, visited science labs at Harvard, and spent time with a tribe in Mexico's Copper Canyons, whose speed and health could match any Olympic marathoner. McDougall's book is titled "Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen." Rather than blather on about it here I've put together some links on my site and you can check it out here: http://paddleandoar.com/fitness/index.php The more I learn about it (and I've just started) the more I think it can help me in my kayaking and my interest in native cultures.
