One year for the Hawkesbury Classic 110km overnight race, our club considered putting together a kayak that was sold in sections. The idea was that each of us in the team would buy a section and the boat would then accommodate as many in the team as wanted to give it a go. We floated the idea for a month or two but it never took off, mainly because the protagonist had to go to Iraq as he was working as a doctor over there. But it was based on a commercial kayak 'kit'.
