I know a guy that was fishing for salmon with a friend in a 19' skiff off the coast of California just north of San Francisco. A full grown sea lion jumped out of the water close to the boat a couple of times and on the third jump landed *in* the boat with them. It then proceeded to chase them around until it climbed up onto the rear transom and one of them body blocked it back into the ocean. They're best guess was that it was trying to get away from a great white. The were fishing in an area known as the Red Triangle, which runs along the coast from just north of Santa Cruz, Ca to Bodega Bay, with the point of the triangle at the Farallon Islands just outside the Golden Gate bridge. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
