The only other thing I'd seen in the news recently was a note on the Reuters website that Johnson Outdoors will be consolidating their entire paddlesports operation in Old Town, Maine and will shut down their operations in FernDale, Washington... I heard Werner Paddles decided to skip this year. This could be a precursor to things to come next year. It is probably reasonable to expect lower "pre-season" orders this fall as retailers will still have stock from this year's orders. sid *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Their report today indicates that things are OK -- less sales but better profit margins on those sales, and a consolidation into Old Town to reduce costs of two separate large facilities. Not bad for a manufacturer in the recreation industry through a sharp recession. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
